Adoption is one way to change a child’s life forever, but it’s not the only way. Through the Be the FAM campaign, Washoe County Human Services Agency invites the community to step up for children, youth and families in foster care.

• Learn about Adoption – Discover what it means to provide a permanent, loving home to a child.

• Meet Waiting Children – Read stories and see profiles of children and teens looking for their forever family.

• Explore Foster Care – Find out how fostering can open the door to adoption and provide stability for children in need.

• Consider Mentorship – Even if adoption or fostering isn’t possible right now, you can still Be the FAM by mentoring or supporting youth in care.

• Get Connected – Access resources, FAQs, and information sessions to help guide you through the process.

Being the FAM means being there for children in whatever way you can, whether that’s through fostering, adoption, mentoring, or advocacy. Every action makes a difference.
