Are you interested in opening and operating a food facility in Washoe County? The Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) Food Construction Team is here to answer your questions and help you navigate the opening process. Although most questions can be answered over the phone, the Food Construction Team is happy to set up an in-office meeting with you so that you can meet our team and discuss your ideas before you invest in an idea, sign a lease and start making changes to a facility. The team can walk you through the requirements for each type of food facility that we regulate which includes mobile food trucks/portables, restaurants, support kitchens, bakeries, grocery stores, bars, snack bars, delis, and food manufacturing facilities.
The Food Construction Team is also responsible for reviewing building plans involving food facilities. In an effort to speed up the plan review process, the team is happy to set up an in-office meeting with you to take a cursory look at those plans before they are submitted to the local building department. We ask that you bring your questions, a proposed menu, pictures of the facility (or at least a layout of the facility or mobile) and the type of equipment that is existing and/or proposed so our team can provide guidance on your project.
If you have any questions about opening a food facility in Washoe County or if you are ready to set up an in-person meeting to discuss your future business, you can call the NNPH front desk at 775-328-2434 option 8 and ask to be transferred to a Food Construction Team member.
