Washoe County Code ("WCC") 55.455 requires all commercial animal establishments (pet stores, kennels, and boarding facilities) to obtain an animal welfare permit from Washoe County Regional Animal Services ("WCRAS"). A link for this code is provided below. This code provision was created to give WCRAS specific authority to address animal welfare complaints received from members of the public regarding commercial animal establishments, and to provide oversight and enforcement of recognized animal welfare principals within commercial animal establishments in Washoe County, the City of Reno and the City of Sparks.

This applies to all commercial animal establishments within Washoe County that are in the business of buying, selling or boarding animals (overnight). For example, pet stores, kennel boarding and equine boarding facilities.
