More details and statistics are available in the attached PowerPoint.

Candidate Filing

For the 2026 election cycle, candidates seeking to run for Washoe County offices are strongly encouraged to set appointments for their Judicial or Non-Judicial candidate filing. Starting in November, candidates can call the main office at 775-328-3670 or call me directly to schedule an appointment.

  • Judicial Candidate Filing: Jan. 5-16, 2026
  • Non-Judicial Candidate Filing: March 2-13, 2026

Voter Registration List Maintenance

Maintaining accurate voter rolls is a top priority for the Registrar of Voters. We worked closely with the Secretary of State’s office to meet the statutory timelines and notification requirements under NRS 293.530 to conduct the following list-maintenance activities this year:

  • February: ~8,600 voters were inactivated.
  • April: ~25,000 inactive voters were canceled.
  • May: Confirmation cards were sent to ~6,000 voters pending activation.
  • August: Confirmation cards were sent to ~35,000 voters pending inactivation.
  • September: ~3,600 voters were inactivated.
  • October: Plans in place for confirmation cards to be sent to ~7,500 voters pending inactivation.

Website Overhaul

A revamped Registrar of Voters website is planned to be launched by the end of the year – with a focus is on a smoother voter experience, streamlined data access, and compliance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Some updates are already visible as construction is underway.

Vote Centers

Our new set of vote center contracts are being prepared for 2026 as we scout out potential locations. In partnership with Washoe County Technology Services, the ROV team created a heat map that uses demographic and turnout criteria to assist our team in making data-driven placement decisions. Our goal is to expand access for underrepresented communities and cut down on those Election Day lines.

Community Engagement

The Registrar’s Office is dedicated to engaging with the community and providing opportunities for the community to engage with us. We’re thrilled at the positive response we received when tabling local events and look forward to continue doing so into the new year. If you have upcoming events where our participation would be beneficial, please reach out. We are also tentatively scheduling vote center demonstrations; email me for details.
